Who we are
CABL is a Charlotte nonprofit, run by volunteers, that builds a baseball community network: competitive adult leagues, the next generation of players, local businesses and volunteers who never stopped loving the game.
Our mission
Charlotte Adult Baseball League, Inc. was organized to foster and conduct local, regional and national amateur sports competition, and to assist and support the athletes engaging in that competition. Today that means organized, competitive adult baseball and a community of members, sponsors and local businesses who have each other's back.
Our history
CABL started in the 1980s, when Maurice "Mo" Brines founded it as a for-profit company. After years with Mo at the helm, Shawn Moore took over as president and led the design of the nonprofit model, much closer to how CABL runs today.
In 2002, CABL incorporated as a North Carolina nonprofit, Charlotte Adult Baseball League, Inc. The IRS later recognized it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Over the last decade, under President Anthony Gardzielik (Gard to most of us), CABL has grown its nonprofit side and its community connections. Today the league fields 28 teams across three adult divisions, with 510 active members.
Nonprofit status
CABL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every player is a CABL member. 2027 player membership: $100 if you were on a 2026 CABL roster, $125 for everyone else, plus your share of your team fee. Paid in The Futures App. Team fees cover league expenses separately.

What makes CABL different
- Competitive adult baseball. Real hardball, nine innings in 18+ and 35+, played under MLB rules with a few CABL changes.
- Community first. Members, sponsors and local businesses supporting each other, plus volunteer and give-back events.
- Volunteer-run. No owners, just players and officers who give their time to keep the game going in Charlotte.
